Each year OCSS awards two Outstanding Social Studies Teacher Awards, one Elementary and one Secondary (Middle or High School) teacher. The Outstanding Social Studies Teacher Award honors social studies educators who demonstrate outstanding dedication, skill, intelligence, and caring in the practice of their art. Teacher of the year nominees should be Ohio classroom educators currently teaching their sixth (or more) year of social studies. Nominees should exemplify excellence in the teaching of social studies skills and content, and their colleagues should recognize them as exceptional social studies practitioners. Winners receive a plaque, one day paid registration for the annual conference (the day the award is presented), $100.00 cash award, and publicity in their hometown newspaper. Self-nominations are both welcome and encouraged.
Nominations for 2024 are now closed.
