Outstanding Social Studies Teacher's Award

Each year OCSS awards three Outstanding Social Studies Teacher Awards (Grades PK-5, Middle School 6-8, Secondary/Post-Secondary).  The Outstanding Social Studies Teacher Award honors social studies educators who demonstrate outstanding dedication, skill, intelligence, and caring in the practice of their art.  Teacher of the year nominees should be Ohio classroom educators currently teaching social studies. Nominees should exemplify excellence in the teaching of social studies skills and content, and their colleagues should recognize them as exceptional social studies practitioners.  Classroom teacher winners receive a framed certificate, a year’s membership in OCSS, one day paid registration for the annual conference (The day the award is presented), $100.00 cash award and publicity in their hometown newspaper.

Nomination forms will open during the OCSS Annual Conference in October.

Please contact Sarah Kaka at sjkaka@owu.edu for more information or if you have questions about the OCSS Award Program.
